Travel Tips for Caregivers

Summer Travel for Caregivers

Traveling with your loved one is absolutely possible!  With a little pre-planning and support, make it a goal to get out and make memories.  Your trips may look a little different than you originally thought they would but learn to enjoy the small moments and claim the smiles as victories! Here are some tips for traveling safer and being better prepared.

Pre-Planning Tips:

  • Choose a family member to plan with you. Two minds are better than one
  • Book non-stop travel for flights and arrange assistance
  • Look for senior discounts- senior benefits, shorter lines
  • Travel Insurance: in case of injury or illness
  • Travel midday to avoid crowds and traffic: Shoulder Season
  • Don’t over schedule yourself. Space things out
  • Don’t advertise your absence on social media or with a lot of people
  • Let trusted folks know your itinerary.
  • Pack Light, fewer things-lighter bags
  • Book ground floor level or near elevators
  • Bus tours and travel packages do the planning for you!

Travel Tips:

  • Don’t travel alone and stay together!
  • Consider cruising: all inclusive, excursions are pre-arranged, limited mobility
  • Bring medications in bags
  • Don’t bring expensive jewelry, or cameras
  • Wear loose, layered clothing
  • Comfortable shoes for walking and standing
  • Stay hydrated, be cautious about food sources
  • Stay active to avoid blood clots and rest each day
  • Avoid Subways, use taxis and buses

Don’t forget to be the light to the world, wherever you go!
“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

Meet Our Owner

Amy Hentschel

Amy founded Senior Provisions, LLC in 2011 with the passion to serve the Atlanta senior community and help families find true care solutions. With over 25 years of experience in senior care, she brings an extensive knowledge of skilled rehab facilities, assisted living communities, and home care options to share with families. Armed with a strong sense of advocacy and proven negotiation strategies, she works hard to find the best fit and greatest care value for her clients. She is supported by a strong network of senior professionals and resources, as well as her husband, Hans, and their two children, Aidan and Grace.

It was an early love for seniors that prompted Amy to first volunteer in acute care hospice facilities as a teenager. Today she continues to view her work as a ministry and considers it a privilege to guide families to make informed decisions. She strives every day to further the education on aging and advocate for the improvement of care for all seniors.

“Our greatest goal every day is to improve the life and spirit of a senior. I am called and blessed to be doing what I truly love!

Listen to the Harvest!

“Atlanta’s Home for Information

and Inspiration for Living Your

Season of Life with Grace”

The Harvest is the heart of our company’s community ministry for speaking hope, love, and support. We created a platform for promoting, celebrating and connecting our area ministries, non-profits, and resource providers in the service of our elders and their families.

Each week, Hans and Amy field questions and spotlight community ministries. They provide informative and inspiring content focused on guiding Seniors and their Adult Children on healthy living, life planning, and care all resting on the foundation of God’s Word
